Hyderabad: Congress leader Konda Murali on Thursday asserted his identity as a Backward Classes representative, saying he had never feared any cases and continued to serve the poor. Murali, accompanied by his wife and minister Konda Surekha, met Congress state affairs in-charge Meenakshi Natarajan at the MLA Quarters in Hyderguda and submitted a report on developments in erstwhile Warangal.
Speaking to the media later, Murali said he had public backing and was committed to resolving poor people’s problems, which is why people came to him. He claimed there was no group politics behind him and told Natarajan he would ensure victory for Congress candidates no matter who gets tickets. Murali urged the party to make use of their services, adding that saving Congress was his aim, with Rahul Gandhi as Prime Minister and Revanth Reddy as Chief Minister for another decade. He expressed support for PCC chief Mahesh Kumar Goud.
Murali also discussed plans for a meeting scheduled on Friday and reviewed mobilisation from Warangal. He pledged to help Congress win local body polls and to ensure the party’s MLA candidates succeed again in Warangal.
On a separate note, Konda Surekha said she had followed rules in her departments and had nothing to hide, stating all her files were open for scrutiny. She said there was no fault if their daughter Sushmitha inherited political ideas, describing it as natural. Any decisions on Sushmitha’s future would be left to her and to the party’s discretion, Surekha added.
Recently, remarks made by Murali against Warangal Congress leaders sparked controversy, prompting a summons from the PCC disciplinary committee at Gandhi Bhavan. He was served another showcause notice seeking a written explanation.
