Hyderabad: Union Minister G. Kishan Reddy on Thursday launched a sharp attack on the Congress government in Telangana, accusing it of failing to act decisively on alleged corruption during the previous BRS regime.
Addressing a gathering at Kashish Function Hall in Musheerabad, Kishan Reddy said the Congress had come to power promising investigations into alleged corruption involving the former Chief Minister’s family, ministers, and MLAs. He questioned the government’s record after 26 months in office.
The Union Minister presented a PowerPoint briefing and alleged that despite serious charges, including the phone-tapping controversy, the government had taken only token action. He claimed authorities themselves admitted that phones belonging to High Court judges, film personalities, media owners, journalists, and political leaders were tapped during the earlier regime.

Kishan Reddy criticised the government for allegedly fixing responsibility on a single police officer while protecting what he described as the real culprits. He mocked the demotion of an officer as the only significant action taken so far. He further alleged that an understanding between the Congress and Bharat Rashtra Samithi leadership at the national level was preventing strict action.
Referring to recent political defections, the Union Minister said several BRS leaders elected as municipal councillors, vice-chairmen, and chairmen had eventually joined the Congress. He argued that these developments showed both parties were “essentially the same”.
Urging voters to reflect before the upcoming elections, Kishan Reddy appealed to the public not to support either the Congress or the BRS, asserting that both parties had failed to ensure accountability and clean governance in Telangana.
