Hyderabad: Telangana politics took a dramatic turn as MLC and Telangana Jagruthi president K. Kavitha announced a statewide tour without featuring her father and former Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao’s photo. The decision created intense political debate across the state.
Kavitha said her campaign, titled ‘Jagruthi Janam Baata’, aims to promote the vision of “Social Telangana” inspired by Professor Jayashankar. Moreover, she decided to use his photo on the campaign posters, signalling a fresh political direction.
Kavitha to launch Jagruthi Janam Baata on October 25
Kavitha said the tour will begin on October 25 and continue till February 13, 2026. She explained that her goal is to visit every district, meet people, and listen to their problems. Each visit will last two days, she added.
While unveiling the ‘Jagruthi Janam Baata’ poster at the Jagruthi office in Jubilee Hills, Kavitha said, “We achieved geographical Telangana, but not yet social Telangana.” She alleged that BRS expelled her from the party for raising these concerns earlier.
She reaffirmed that Telangana Jagruthi will continue its mission to achieve social Telangana. According to her, it is not a slogan but a policy-driven commitment to equality and justice.
Kavitha clarifies decision to exclude KCR’s photo
Kavitha clearly stated that her yatra will proceed without KCR’s photo. “I am no longer a BRS member. Ethically, I cannot use KCR’s image,” she said. However, she clarified that the decision does not mean disrespect.
She described KCR as a visionary leader. “I tried to protect the tree called KCR from wrongdoers,” she said. “Now that I no longer live under its shade, I cannot rely on its name for survival.”
Furthermore, she said being KCR’s daughter is her life’s greatest fortune. “But when paths diverge, it is morally right to walk my own,” she added.
Kavitha criticises the Congress and the BJP governments
Kavitha accused the Congress government of ignoring people’s issues and focusing only on attacking opponents. She said, “Instead of solving problems, this government spends its time abusing others.”
She also criticised the BJP-led Centre, saying it neglected Telangana’s development. “Even after winning eight MPs, the Centre did not release a single rupee to the state,” she said.
Consequently, Kavitha claimed that Telangana is suffering from uncertainty, inflation, and administrative failure under the current regimes. She urged citizens to demand accountability from both governments.
