Hyderabad: Telangana Jagruthi president K. Kavitha on Wednesday confirmed that her organisation will not contest the upcoming municipal elections in the state, citing its non-political status.
Speaking at a programme held to mark the birth anniversary of Telangana activist Muthcharla Satyanarayana, Kavitha clarified that Telangana Jagruthi has not yet evolved into a political party and therefore would not field candidates. However, she added that the group is open to extending support to others if approached.
Addressing reporters, Kavitha also expressed skepticism about the outcome of the ongoing phone-tapping case. “I do not believe it will reach its final stage, nor do I expect justice for victims like me,” she remarked.
She further demanded the installation of a statue of Muthcharla Satyanarayana on Tank Bund, alongside those of other Telangana movement leaders, to honour his role in the statehood struggle.
