Hyderabad: Telangana Jagruthi president K. Kavitha on Tuesday expressed hope that B. Sudershan Reddy, the INDIA bloc nominee and a native of Telangana, would be elected Vice President. She described supporting his candidature as “positive regionalism,” stressing that the victory of a Telugu leader would bring prestige to the post.
Speaking at the Telangana Jagruthi office in Jubilee Hills during Kaloji Narayana Rao’s birth anniversary celebrations, Kavitha said, “Parties aside, this is an opportunity for a son of Telangana. If Sudershan Reddy wins, the Vice-President’s office will shine brighter.”
Kavitha signals shift in Telangana Jagruthi
Her remarks drew political attention as they came on the day BRS abstained from the Vice-Presidential election. Kavitha said Telangana Jagruthi had been reviewing recent developments and discussing ways to pursue larger social goals. “Our journey is for social Telangana, not just geographical Telangana. Until we achieve it, we will not rest,” she said.
Kavitha explained that Jagruthi would engage thinkers, poets, and writers in shaping the agenda, while ensuring opportunities and justice for all communities. She added that if K. Chandrashekar Rao had secured a third term, he too would have worked toward social Telangana. “That chance did not come. Now Telangana Jagruthi will take up that responsibility,” she said.
Criticism of Revanth Reddy
The former MP also accused Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy of inflating estimates for the Godavari Phase-2 and Phase-3 works, allegedly to benefit contractor Megha Krishna Reddy. “This is not Revanth Reddy’s family wealth. It is public money. He must answer why project costs have been escalated,” she demanded.
