Kavitha asks CM Revanth to refund ‘Singareni funds’ spent on football match

Hyderabad: Telangana Jagruthi president Kalvakuntla Kavitha on Sunday accused Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy of misusing Singareni Collieries funds. She claimed he spent ₹10 crore on a football match with global star Lionel Messi. Kavitha demanded that the government return the entire amount to the workers’ welfare pool, arguing that the money was unjustly spent.

Addressing the media, Kavitha described the expenditure as “one hour of entertainment at the cost of workers’ money.” She asked what benefit Telangana received from the match and urged the Congress party to return the ₹10 crore to Singareni Collieries. Once again, Kavitha demands a refund for transparency.

Criticism of Messi visit and local governance

Referring to Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s visit to Hyderabad to watch the game, Kavitha said he would have been better off visiting the historic Chikkadpally Library. She contrasted that with what she called misplaced priorities of the current government. Moreover, Kavitha demands a refund in criticism of the government’s priorities.

Kavitha also criticised the recent reorganisation of municipal divisions in Hyderabad, calling it “unscientific.” She said the city still grapples with poor public transport, inadequate drainage and unreliable drinking water supplies.

She added that her city tour brought several civic issues to light. Kavitha asserted that Telangana Jagruthi would continue to press for their resolution.
