MLA Kaushik Reddy alleges blast damaged irrigation in Huzurabad

Hyderabad: Huzurabad MLA Padi Kaushik Reddy said on Monday that a blast damaged a major irrigation source in his area. He urged the government to fix it quickly, warning that around 7,000 acres would lose water if nothing was done.

Speaking during Question Hour in the Assembly, Kaushik Reddy said explosives were used to destroy the Tanugula check dam. He compared it to the Medigadda incident and alleged that both were done in the same way.

Congress MLAs interrupted his remarks, prompting Speaker Gaddam Prasad Kumar to step in. The Speaker then allowed BRS MLA Kottha Prabhakar Reddy to continue the discussion.

Kaushik Reddy said farmers would suffer badly during the rabi season if the repairs were delayed. He demanded that the government make irrigation a top priority in his constituency.

The issue led to brief arguments between BRS and Congress leaders. The MLA said the people deserved better upkeep of key irrigation works.
