Hyderabad: A Kagaz Nagar fire mishap was averted after wedding fireworks set a house-top tent ablaze near the busy Ambedkar Chowrasta in the town around midnight on Saturday.
The incident occurred at about 12 am during a marriage procession passing through the junction. As part of the celebrations, members of the wedding party burst large quantities of fireworks.
Sparks from the fireworks shot into the air and accidentally fell on a tent erected atop a house along the roadside. Within minutes, the tent caught fire and was completely gutted.

The flames spread rapidly, triggering panic among residents in the locality. However, locals quickly reacted and brought the fire under control. As a result, nearby houses escaped damage.
Residents expressed anger over the incident. They said bursting heavy fireworks in residential areas, especially at midnight, posed serious risks to property. Moreover, they warned that such acts could lead to major accidents.
Locals demanded strict action against those violating norms by setting off fireworks in crowded neighbourhoods. Authorities were urged to enforce regulations to prevent similar incidents.
