Hyderabad: Excise Minister Jupally Krishnarao on Tuesday asked excise staff to take a lead role in cracking down on drugs, ganja, non-duty paid liquor, and furious liquor. He announced weapon training for the current batch of recruits—an option not offered to previous batches.
The minister addressed the opening session of training for Assistant Excise Superintendents (AES) selected through Group-1 and Sub-Inspectors (SI) chosen through Group-2. He urged the trainees to master excise laws and excel in their training.
Krishnarao said top performers would receive auxiliary promotions. “We will provide all required facilities, including sports infrastructure, during training,” he stated.
Excise Principal Secretary Raghunandan Rao and Commissioner Harikiran called for shifting the department’s focus from revenue generation to legal enforcement. They asked all staff to align with government policy in fighting drugs and furious liquor.
The event also saw participation from Academy Joint Director Sashidhar Reddy, Ranga Reddy District Collector Dasharath, and AES officers Krishnapriya and Anjireddy.
