Journalist accreditation cards extended till September 15 by Telangana HC

Hyderabad: The Telangana High Court on Tuesday again extended the validity of existing journalist accreditation cards until September 15, 2026. The court passed the direction while hearing petitions challenging GO 252 and its amended GO 103.

The Telangana Urdu Working Journalists’ Federation (TUWJF) and others had approached the High Court against the government orders. During Tuesday’s hearing, the court considered the matter and extended the validity of the old accreditation cards.

The order provided further relief to journalists who continued to hold existing cards.

Journalist accreditation cards valid until September 15

The petitions challenged changes introduced in the journalist accreditation system through GO 252 and GO 103. The petitioners had raised concerns over the provisions of the government orders before the High Court.

Meanwhile, the latest interim relief allowed journalists to continue using their existing journalist accreditation cards until September 15. The extension prevented an immediate interruption in the use of the old cards for professional purposes.

The High Court had earlier extended their validity, and Tuesday’s direction granted another extension. The next hearing in the matter was scheduled for September 15, 2026.

The court was expected to consider the petitions and the government’s response when the case came up again. Until then, the old journalist accreditation cards would remain valid under the High Court’s latest direction.
