Jangaon court sentences Lobo to one year jail in accident case

Hyderabad: A Jangaon court has sentenced actor and TV personality Lobo, whose real name is Mohammad Khayyum, to one year in jail over a 2018 fatal road accident. He was also ordered to pay a fine of ₹12,500.

According to the case records, Lobo was returning to Hyderabad from Warangal on May 21, 2018, after a video shoot at Ramappa and Laknavaram Bhadrakali cheruvu. While driving near Nidigonda village in Raghunathpalli mandal, his car collided with an auto-rickshaw. Two passengers in the auto died on the spot from severe injuries, while several others were injured and shifted to hospital by locals. Following a complaint from the victims’ families, Raghunathpalli police registered a case that led to Friday’s conviction.

Lobo began his career as a tattoo artist before moving into television as an anchor. Known for his flamboyant appearance and comic style, he gained popularity through several TV shows. He became widely recognized after participating in Bigg Boss Telugu Season 5.
