Jaipur police bust ₹38 lakh paddy procurement scam at Kishthapur PPC

Hyderabad: Jaipur police on Thursday busted a ₹38.15 lakh paddy procurement scam at the DCMs paddy purchase centre in Kishthapur village, Mancherial district, for the 2024–25 Rabi season.

ACP Venkateshwar, speaking at a press meet in Jaipur police station, said the centre’s in-charge, Madasu Ramesh, tampered with records to divert public funds. Ramesh, with the help of Bhoge Mallayya, filed false entries to show more paddy than he actually harvested.

They used the Primary Procurement Centre (PPC) to buy excess paddy under Ramesh’s name. The scam enabled them to siphon off ₹38,15,700 by submitting fake documents.

The fraud surfaced after the district Civil Supplies Corporation Manager lodged a complaint. Police registered a case against seven people and began a detailed inquiry.

On Thursday morning, police held checks at Tekumatla X-road and arrested the prime accused, Ramesh and Mallayya. During questioning, both confessed to creating false records and misusing the procurement system.

Police confirmed both were remanded. ACP Venkateshwar praised Jaipur SI Sridhar for cracking the case.
