Jagadish Reddy slams defecting MLAs, says bypolls inevitable

Hyderabad: Former minister and BRS leader Jagadish Reddy on Monday lashed out at the defecting MLAs who left the party, accusing them of switching loyalties for personal gain. He said their actions have made by-elections in their constituencies unavoidable.

Along with fellow BRS MLAs Vivekananda Goud and Prabhakar, Reddy submitted a formal response to the Assistant Secretary of the state Assembly, addressing the party defection issue.

Speaking to the media later, Reddy said the ten MLAs who defected were now pretending innocence. “They claim not to have joined the Congress, yet attend Congress meetings,” he said.

‘Defectors can’t escape legal consequences’

Jagadish Reddy cited former MLA Pocharam Srinivas Reddy’s public call for hoisting the Congress flag during local body polls. “Was that statement generated using AI?” he asked sarcastically. He added that if these MLAs still claimed loyalty to BRS founder KCR, they should display his image at home and wear the party scarf.

He criticised Jagityala MLA Sanjay for giving what he called a “laughable” explanation. “These ten MLAs should either admit they switched parties or approach KCR to prove otherwise,” he said. Reddy questioned why they went to Chief Minister Revanth Reddy after receiving disqualification notices, instead of responding directly to BRS.

He warned that the legal process would not spare them. “They cannot escape the court. By-elections are inevitable in their constituencies,” he asserted.

Jagadish Reddy made controversial remarks stating that “people would definitely shoot and burn them,” though the context suggested extreme public anger rather than a literal threat.
