Hyderabad: The IndiGo Airlines crisis hits as it entered its eighth day and continued to cause heavy travel problems across the country. The airline struggled to restore normal services despite several efforts. Because of this, Hyderabad faced major disruption on Tuesday. IndiGo cancelled 14 flights leaving Shamshabad for other states. It also stopped 44 incoming flights from different regions. In total, the airline cancelled 56 flights and left many travellers stranded without clear alternatives.
Passengers said the sudden changes broke their travel plans. They also struggled to secure new tickets because other flights filled up quickly. Airport teams shared updates; however, long queues and shifting schedules still troubled travellers throughout the day.
DGCA steps in as flight disruptions continue
The Directorate General of Civil Aviation reacted strongly to the ongoing crisis. It issued notices to all major airlines, including IndiGo, and asked them to explain the continuous cancellations. Senior airline officials will now appear before the regulator to discuss the reasons behind the widespread disruptions. Authorities said they want clear answers and long-term measures that prevent such problems.
DGCA also directed airlines to outline steps that protect passengers during large-scale interruptions. Meanwhile, IndiGo said it is working on fixes and aims to restore full services by December 10. The airline added that its teams are trying to reduce delays and help passengers reach their destinations with fewer hurdles.
