Hyderabad: The investigation into the iBomma piracy case involving main accused Imandi Ravi took a new turn on Sunday. Cyberabad police questioned another individual linked to the case.
Police summoned a Bengaluru-based software employee named Prahlad. They suspected that Imandi Ravi had used his identity to illegally obtain documents related to the piracy case. During questioning, officials found that Ravi had allegedly secured a PAN card and driving licence under the name of Prahlad Vellela by misusing his details.
Prahlad denies links to main accused
Prahlad, who reportedly once shared accommodation with Ravi, told investigators that he had no knowledge of the alleged misuse of his identity concerning the iBomma piracy case. According to sources, he was shocked to learn that his name was used to obtain official documents. Cyberabad police questioned him in the presence of Ravi, who remains in custody.
Police suspect that Ravi stole Prahlad’s documents during their time as roommates. He then used them to create fake identification, as part of the elaborate piracy case he’s involved in. Prahlad is currently employed in the software sector in Bengaluru and denied having any connection to the operations of the iBomma website.
Ravi’s police custody is scheduled to end tomorrow. With new angles emerging in the investigation of the iBomma piracy case, officials expect further developments. They continue to unravel the full extent of the piracy network.
