Court rejects bail for iBomma operator Ravi in high-profile piracy case

Hyderabad: In a major development in the sensational Telugu film piracy case, a Nampally criminal court on Thursday rejected the bail petition of iBomma operator Immadhi Ravi. The court cited the seriousness of the charges against him.

This is the second setback for Ravi in as many days. The Cyber Crime police simultaneously filed a custody revision petition seeking his remand for eight more days. Police argued that further custodial interrogation is necessary to unearth deeper links in the piracy network.

Court cites case gravity, reserves verdict on custody plea

The court, after hearing arguments from both sides, ruled that Ravi is not eligible for bail at this stage. This decision was made due to the severity of the piracy charges. It observed that the case involves large-scale intellectual property violations with statewide implications.

The Cyber Crime police had earlier filed for third-round custody, submitting a revision petition after two previous rounds of questioning. Ravi’s legal team had submitted a bail request in response.

While dismissing the bail plea, the court postponed its verdict on the police’s custody revision petition to Friday.
