Hyderabad: The Hyderabad Traffic Police has intensified its warning to the public against using mobile phones while driving, following a sharp rise in violations this year. Officials said using phones behind the wheel remains a major cause of accidents due to distraction and delayed reaction time.
Between January 1 and October 12, 2025, police booked 80,555 cases for this offence. During special enforcement drives on October 13 and 14, officers registered another 2,345 cases. The drives covered all major city junctions and highways.
Hyderabad Traffic Police warning highlights safety risk
Police have warned that motorists caught using mobile phones while driving or riding will face strict legal action. Violators could be summoned to court and fined under the Motor Vehicles Act.
Officials urged citizens to cooperate in ensuring road safety. They asked the public to report violations through the Traffic Helpline (9010203626), the e-Challan Helpdesk (8712661690), or the department’s official social media pages.
