Hyderabad: Police registered a case in the Hyderabad techie rape case after a software company owner allegedly blackmailed and sexually assaulted a 28-year-old woman in SR Nagar limits.
The incident occurred under the jurisdiction of SR Nagar police station. According to police, the woman from Guntur district had been living in the SR Nagar area of the city.
Eight years ago, she had worked at a company in Balanagar. The firm was run by Mallikarjuna Reddy, 50, a resident of Banjara Hills. Later, she left the job and married another person. However, in 2024, Mallikarjuna Reddy contacted her again.
As they were previously acquainted, the woman went to a house in Madhura Nagar at his suggestion. Subsequently, he allegedly began blackmailing her, claiming he possessed her photographs and videos. He threatened to make them public.

Police said the accused allegedly used the material to coerce her. He reportedly took her to Madhura Nagar, Tirupati and other locations. There, he sexually assaulted her multiple times.
Meanwhile, the woman recently became pregnant. Even after that, the accused allegedly continued issuing threats. Unable to endure the harassment, she approached the police.
Following her complaint, police registered a case in the Hyderabad techie rape case and began an investigation. Officers said further inquiry was underway.
