Hyderabad: With the Bakrid festival approaching, Hyderabad Police convened a coordination meeting with representatives from several Gauseva (cow protection) organisations on Thursday, aiming to foster a peaceful and law-abiding environment during the celebrations.
The session, held at the Basheerbagh Conference Hall, was chaired by Police Commissioner C.V. Anand, IPS. He was joined by Additional Commissioner of Police (Law and Order), Vikram Singh Mann, IPS, and senior officers including DCPs, Additional DCPs, and ACPs from across the city.
Leaders from prominent Gauseva groups participated, including Kolishetti Sivakumar of Yuga Tulsi Foundation, Deepak Singh of Gorakshak Dal Telangana, A. Balakrishna of Akhil Bharatiya Gauseva Foundation, Jasraj Srishramal of Bharatiya Prani Mitrasangh, and Jashmit Patel of Love for Cow Foundation Hyderabad.
The representatives reiterated their commitment to cattle welfare and called for strict legal action against individuals sharing videos of cattle slaughter on social media, describing such content as provocative and harmful to communal peace.
Commissioner Anand assured participants of stringent action against such online activity and advised cow protection groups to report any concerns directly to the police control room via the designated helpline number. He cautioned against vigilantism and emphasised the need for cooperation with law enforcement, particularly at city check posts during the festival period.
The meeting underscored the police department’s proactive efforts to maintain public order while respecting religious sentiments and lawful advocacy.
