Hyderabad: Hyderabad habitual offenders were arrested in a joint operation by the Commissioner’s Task Force, South West Zone, and Banjara Hills police in connection with multiple mobile phone and two-wheeler thefts across the city and Maharashtra.
Police seized 21 mobile phones, a Pulsar 220 bike and two daggers from the accused. The total value of the recovered property was estimated at Rs 3 lakh.
The accused were identified as Syed Feroz Khan, 25, a helper from Nanded district in Maharashtra, and Shaik Sameer, 24, who worked in a scrap yard and was residing behind Peeli Dargah in Chandrayanagutta.
According to police, the duo committed bike thefts in Nanded and stole mobile phones from security guards and cab drivers while they were asleep in Hyderabad and the Cyberabad Commissionerate limits.
Hyderabad habitual offenders involved in multiple cases
The accused confessed to their involvement in several cases. These included Crime No. 119/2026 under Section 303(2) of the BNS at Banjara Hills police station. They were also linked to Crime No. 210/2026 at KPHB and Kukatpally police stations.
Further, they were connected to Crime Nos. 152/2026 and 158/2026 at Raidurgam police station. In addition, Crime No. 0115/2026 under Section 303(2) BNS was registered at Nanded Rural police station.
Among the seized items were a Redmi 9 Prime phone linked to Banjara Hills police station and a One Plus 10T 5G connected to KPHB police station. Police also recovered a VIVO T3 5G related to Kukatpally and a VIVO V40 and an iQOO phone pertaining to Raidurgam police station.
The recovered Pulsar 220 bike bearing registration number MH 26CW 3973 was linked to Nanded Rural police station. Besides these, 15 other mobile phones were unreported.
Background of Hyderabad habitual offenders
Police said the accused were natives of Milalat Nagar in Nanded district. Feroz worked as a helper in a scrap yard where he met Sameer. Over time, they developed habits such as playing online video games, touring on bikes and consuming alcohol.
They allegedly sought a lavish lifestyle but lacked funds. As a result, they decided to commit thefts to meet their expenses. Both had previous involvement in property offences in Maharashtra and Telangana.
Feroz was earlier detained in multiple cases. These included Crime No. 653/2025 at Nanded Rural police station under Section 303(2) BNS. He was also involved in Crime No. 245/2025 at Itwara police station, Nanded, under Sections 303(2) and 3(5) BNS.
Additionally, cases were registered against him at Bodhan, Medchal and Devalpalli police stations in Telangana during 2025. Earlier cases also included Crime No. 159/2023 at Itwara police station under Sections 379 and 34 IPC. He was further booked in Crime No. 270/2024 at Nanded Rural police station under Sections 3, 7 and 25 of the Arms Act and Sections 124 and 135 of the Maharashtra Police Act.
Police said the Hyderabad habitual offenders were apprehended on February 11, 2026, following a tip-off. The operation was led by Inspector R Venkatesh of Golconda Zone Task Force, SI G Vijayanand of Golconda Zone Task Force and SI G Sandhya Rani of Banjara Hills police station, along with their staff.
Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police M Iqbal Siddiqui of Jubilee Hills, Golconda and Rajendra Nagar Zone confirmed the arrests.
