Hyderabad global ranking rises in 2026 world cities list

Hyderabad: Hyderabad’s global ranking improved after the city achieved the 82nd spot in the 2026 World’s Best Cities Report, released by Resonance Consultancy in collaboration with Ipsos. The study evaluated more than 270 global metros and measured liveability, lovability and prosperity. Bengaluru placed 29th, Mumbai 40th and Delhi 54th, so Hyderabad became India’s fourth entry in the Top 100.

The report noted that Hyderabad’s growing technology and IT services base continued to attract a steady flow of workers from several regions. Its older identity, shaped during the Nizam era, still added depth to the city’s character. As a result, the mix of heritage and steady development strengthened local appeal. Residents also pointed to wider job access and lower living costs, which encouraged many migrants from northern states. These factors supported the city’s performance in development and comfort indicators.

Resonance Consultancy said London held the global No. 1 rank for the 11th straight year. It also highlighted Tokyo in fourth place and Singapore in sixth place, both of which were boosted by tourism growth and improved access. London earned top scores across prosperity, lovability and liveability subindexes, which helped it lead the list again.

Hyderabad’s global ranking is driven by IT growth

Hyderabad’s global ranking was strengthened by the city’s expanding IT sector. The report added that the industry shaped employment, construction and migration patterns. It noted that development continued even after political changes, as core indicators remained stable. In turn, this progress supported Hyderabad’s entry into the global Top 100.
