Hyderabad: A late-night anti-drug operation by the Special Operations Team (SOT) led to the detention of two individuals at popular nightlife venues in Madhapur and Gachibowli, police confirmed on Friday.
Officers carried out surprise inspections across several pubs in the city, focusing particularly on hotspots in the western corridor. The raids targeted the Akhan Pub in Madhapur and the A19 Pub located in Gachibowli’s AMB Mall.
According to authorities, two patrons tested positive during on-the-spot drug screening one for an undisclosed substance at Akhan Pub and another for cannabis at A19 Pub. Both were immediately taken into custody.
The individuals have since been handed over to the local police stations. Cases have been registered, and an investigation is underway to trace the origin and suppliers of the narcotics.
The operation forms part of a broader crackdown aimed at curbing recreational drug use in the city’s pub circuit. Police have indicated that further inspections will continue in the coming weeks.
