Hyderabad: The Telangana Crime Investigation Department (CID) arrested five individuals, including Hyderabad Cricket Association (HCA) president A Jagan Mohan Rao, in connection with alleged fund misappropriation, forgery, and criminal breach of trust.
The arrested include Jagan Mohan Rao, HCA treasurer J S Srinivasa Rao, CEO Sunil Kante, Sri Chakra Cricket Club general secretary Rajendra Yadav, and the club’s president G Kavitha.
The CID acted on a complaint filed by Dharam Guruva Reddy, general secretary of the Telangana Cricket Association, who alleged that Jagan Mohan Rao and his associates had misused funds and engaged in fraudulent activities to secure control of HCA.
According to Additional DGP Charu Sinha, the accused forged documents of Sri Chakra Cricket Club originally Gowlipura Cricket Club by fabricating the signature of its president C Krishna Yadav. These falsified papers were allegedly used to portray the club as legitimate, enabling Jagan Mohan Rao to gain unlawful entry into the HCA presidency.
Further investigation revealed that Jagan Mohan, along with Srinivasa Rao and Sunil Kante, allegedly intimidated officials of the IPL franchise SunRisers Hyderabad by restricting their access to complimentary tickets and corporate boxes, threatening them with consequences.
The case has been registered under IPC Sections 465, 468, 471, 403, 409, 420 read with 34, covering forgery, cheating, criminal breach of trust, and common intention.
