Hyderabad: The Telangana High Court on Monday dismissed an anticipatory bail petition filed by BRS MLA Padi Kaushik Reddy in connection with an extortion case registered at Subedari police station.
The Huzurabad legislator sought protection from arrest, but the court refused to issue interim orders. The matter has been posted for further hearing on June 23.
The case stems from a complaint lodged by Umadevi, wife of granite businessman Manoj, who runs a quarry in Vangapally village under Kamalapuram mandal. In her complaint, she alleged that the MLA threatened them and demanded ₹50 lakh.
Based on her statement, police booked Kaushik Reddy under relevant sections and began a probe. No official response has been issued by the MLA or his legal counsel so far.
