Harish Rao slams Rythu Bharosa delay by Congress

Hyderabad: BRS Legislature Party deputy leader T Harish Rao criticised the Congress government over the Rythu Bharosa delay, accusing it of betraying farmers by failing to release financial assistance.

He urged the government to stop what he described as electoral theatrics and immediately fulfil its obligations to the farming community. Harish Rao said no administration that ignored farmers’ hardships had survived politically. He also accused Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy of abandoning pre-election assurances after assuming office.

Recalling a public meeting in Miryalaguda on February 4, Harish Rao said the Chief Minister had claimed funds were already allocated. At that meeting, he had assured farmers that Rythu Bharosa payments would be credited soon after the municipal elections. However, Harish Rao noted that more than ten days after the model code ended, the Rythu Bharosa delay persisted.

Rythu Bharosa delay not discussed in Cabinet, says Harish Rao

Harish Rao stated that the issue of the Rythu Bharosa delay was not even discussed in the latest Cabinet meeting. He alleged that the Congress had promised ₹15,000 per acre before elections but failed to support farmers for two agricultural seasons.

Moreover, he accused the government of using Rythu Bharosa as a political tool instead of honouring commitments. He questioned how funds were available for projects such as Musi beautification, land acquisition for the proposed Fourth City and large-scale road works, while farmer assistance remained pending. He also referred to payments exceeding ₹25,000 crore to contractors.

The BRS leader further questioned how Congress leaders managed transfers of substantial funds to their party headquarters in Delhi. He criticised expenditure linked to the Chief Minister’s camp office, including ₹9 crore for a security wall and ₹5 crore for a football ground nearby. He said the claim of financial constraints for farmers lacked credibility.
