Hyderabad: Former Telangana minister and Siddipet MLA T. Harish Rao has strongly criticised the Congress-led state government for its repeated postponement of appointment letters to candidates selected for posts in the Irrigation Department.
In a statement posted on social media platform X (formerly Twitter), Harish Rao condemned the government’s handling of the recruitment process for 224 Assistant Engineers (AEs) and 199 Junior Technical Officers (JTOs). He accused the government of playing with the futures of selected candidates by indefinitely delaying their appointment.
Referring to the situation, Rao compared it to “a priest withholding a divine blessing even after God has granted it”, underscoring what he described as the frustration faced by the selected candidates. He said the Congress government had robbed these aspirants of the joy of securing a job after years of hard work.
Harish Rao alleged that the appointment distribution programme had been postponed five times in the last ten days, leading to repeated disappointment for the candidates, many of whom had travelled to Hyderabad in anticipation.
He further accused the state government and Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy of making a habit of delaying important public services. Rao compared this to the recent postponement of the SSC exam results, saying both instances reflect a governance style marked by excuses and deferrals.
Calling for immediate action, Rao demanded that the government stop its publicity-focused approach and promptly issue appointment letters to the selected candidates. He extended congratulations to the aspirants who had cleared the recruitment process during the previous BRS administration.
The BRS leader concluded with a direct appeal to the Telangana Chief Minister and Irrigation Minister N. Uttam Kumar Reddy, urging them to fulfil their responsibility without further delay.
