Harish Rao says Congress has no moral right to seek votes

Hyderabad: Senior BRS leader and former Minister T. Harish Rao has said the Congress party lacks the moral right to seek votes in Telangana. He accused it of betraying public trust by failing to deliver on its major pre-election promises.

Campaigning in Gaddapotharam and Gummididala municipalities of Patancheru Assembly constituency, Harish Rao said that even after more than two years in office, the Congress government had not fulfilled a single one of its six guarantees.

He pointed out that women had not received the promised ₹2,500 monthly assistance under the Mahalaxmi scheme. Farmers were still waiting for the ₹15,000 annual support through Rythu Bharosa. Additionally, older people had not received the ₹4,000 monthly pension, students had been denied fee reimbursement, and the promise of creating two lakh jobs remained unkept.

Harish Rao says Congress failed farmers and social welfare schemes

The BRS leader claimed that nearly two lakh pensioners had their benefits stopped under the Congress government. He also said farmers were not receiving reliable power supply, which he called a major failure of the administration.

Harish Rao praised former Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao for consistently supporting farmers through the Rythu Bandhu scheme. He noted that the initiative had transferred ₹82,000 crore directly into farmers’ accounts.

He further alleged that the Congress government had let down marginalized communities. According to him, even the one scheme implemented free bus travel had lost its effectiveness due to the introduction of double ticket fares for men. He said the move had effectively nullified the scheme’s benefits.
