Hyderabad: The Special Investigation Team (SIT) has intensified its probe into the high-profile Harish Rao phone tapping case. It is collecting key evidence that points to extensive surveillance by the Praneeth Rao-led unit.
Officials disclosed that not only was former minister Harish Rao’s phone monitored for months after the 2018 Assembly elections, but the phones of at least six of his close associates were also tapped. Moreover, SIT sources confirmed that notices will soon be issued summoning all six for questioning.
During his recent SIT appearance, Harish Rao was reportedly surprised by the detailed logs presented to him. Investigators shared exact dates and times when his calls were intercepted. The data reportedly confirmed that Praneeth Rao’s team had placed Harish Rao under targeted surveillance for an extended period.
Harish Rao is said to have reacted strongly to the proceedings. He wrote down every question posed to him and even asked investigators, “Did you fabricate these questions and evidence yourselves?” according to sources present.
The SIT, however, backed its claims with technical data, pushing the investigation into a sharper and politically sensitive phase. With deeper angles emerging, political circles are closely watching SIT’s next moves.
