HYDERABAD: Former Minister and MLA T Harish Rao has demanded immediate relief for farmers affected by the unseasonal hailstorm that struck Siddipet constituency on Wednesday night.
Expressing anguish over the crop loss, Harish Rao said that the untimely rains had devastated the hard work of farmers, reducing months of labour to nothing. He noted that crops such as paddy, maize, and mangoes suffered heavy damage in several parts of Siddipet.
He urged the government to provide compensation of ₹20,000 per acre to all affected farmers. Harish Rao revealed that he had spoken to the Siddipet District Collector and agriculture officials over the phone, urging them to assess the damage and send a report to the state government immediately.
He further directed agriculture officers to conduct field inspections to evaluate crop loss on the ground and prepare a list of affected farmers for compensation.
Calling the situation deeply distressing, he appealed to the government to stand by the farmers during this crisis. He also encouraged farmers not to lose hope and to remain strong in the face of adversity.
