HYDERABAD, February 5: Former minister and Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) leader Harish Rao criticised the Congress government for failing to pay hospital staff salaries for the past three months. He highlighted the plight of sanitation, patient care, and security personnel in Telangana Vaidya Vidhana Parishad (TVVP) hospitals, who have been protesting under the Telangana Medical Union’s banner.
Harish Rao expressed concern over the government’s inaction, noting that these frontline workers, essential in providing patient services, have been forced to protest due to unpaid wages. He emphasised that many of these workers rely solely on their monthly salaries to cover expenses such as children’s education and housing rent, and the delay has caused them significant hardship.
He questioned why the government has not taken action against contractors who, contrary to tender agreements, have failed to disburse salaries and deposit provident fund amounts. Harish Rao described the government’s apathy towards the injustice faced by these workers as shameful.
Addressing Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, Harish Rao challenged the administration’s claims of timely salary disbursements, asking if the Chief Minister is aware of the distress among these low-wage employees. On behalf of the BRS, he demanded the immediate payment of pending salaries, timely monthly disbursements, and prevention of salary cuts by contractors.
