Hyderabad: Former Minister Harish Rao said Telangana people must prepare for another struggle to protect the State’s identity. He spoke at the Vijay Deeksha Divas programme held at Telangana Bhavan on Tuesday. Harish Rao said K. Chandrashekar Rao remained healthy with the blessings of the people and would return to public life at the right time. Moreover, he said people clearly understood who stood by Telangana and were waiting for KCR to become Chief Minister again.
Harish Rao said KCR symbolised struggle and sacrifice. He claimed that the separate State would not have been announced without KCR’s fast. He criticised Congress leaders and said they misunderstood the history of the Telangana movement. Furthermore, he alleged that Chief Minister Revanth Reddy acted against the State’s interests and had no right to alter the Telangana Thalli statue.
Former Minister intensifies criticism of CM and recalls movement history
Harish Rao said Revanth Reddy had damaged Telangana’s identity for two years. He accused the Chief Minister of insulting literary awards given at Ravindra Bharathi while praising media awards created elsewhere. He said Revanth Reddy prepared to name projects after Donald Trump and changed his stand on Sonia Gandhi for political gain. According to him, these actions weakened the movement’s legacy.
He recalled the suicide of Yadireddy near the Delhi Congress office during the Statehood agitation and said Andhra leaders prevented the family from bringing the body to AP Bhavan. He added that police cases forced Telangana activists to travel to Delhi for years. Harish Rao said KCR embodied sacrifice by giving up positions and continuing his fast even when his health declined at NIMS. He said remarks describing the Telangana victory rally as a “funeral procession” had pained him deeply. Harish Rao concluded that Telangana’s political history belonged to KCR and urged people to unite for another phase of struggle.
