Harish Rao announces free legal aid for 22A land victims

Hyderabad: BRS deputy floor leader T. Harish Rao announced free legal aid for 22A victims affected by prohibited land listings across Telangana.

Harish Rao met property owners at Telangana Bhavan on Wednesday. The victims came from different parts of the state and explained problems caused by the inclusion of their properties in the Section 22A prohibited list.

BRS leaders and legislators, including Sabitha Indra Reddy, Kaleru Venkatesh, Mutta Gopal and Devireddy Sudheer Reddy, attended the meeting. Harish Rao listened to the grievances and assured the affected owners of continued party support.

He said victims should not fear the restrictions or lose hope. Harish Rao also said the BRS would continue supporting them under the leadership of party president K. Chandrashekar Rao.

The former minister announced a 10-member BRS Legal Cell at Telangana Bhavan. The team will provide free legal assistance and guide property owners facing problems linked to the 22A restrictions.

Harish Rao also assured victims that BRS MLAs and leaders would approach officials and Collectors when necessary. They would remain involved until authorities addressed the grievances, he said.

The BRS leader urged affected owners not to pay commissions to anyone promising to remove their properties from the prohibited list. He also advised them against selling their properties at distress prices because of fear.

According to Harish Rao, even properties in HUDA and HMDA-approved layouts had entered the 22A prohibited list. He also said some houses purchased decades ago faced similar restrictions.

The BRS leader cited cases in which properties were allegedly removed from the prohibited list and later added again. He said such instances raised questions about how authorities prepared and maintained the list.

22A victims legal aid to cover property disputes

Harish Rao demanded a detailed investigation into the preparation and revision of the prohibited list. He said authorities should identify officials and political leaders responsible for any irregularities.

The BRS leader said the legal cell would help affected owners understand their options. It would also provide necessary assistance as victims pursue remedies for their property-related grievances.

Meanwhile, Harish Rao reiterated that the BRS would stand with property owners facing 22A restrictions. He urged victims to approach the party’s legal team rather than surrender to pressure or sell assets below their value.

The meeting brought together affected property owners and senior BRS leaders at Telangana Bhavan. Harish Rao said the party would continue pursuing the issue until the victims received relief.
