Hyderabad: Answering Chief Minister Revanth Reddy’s call for national unity, Telangana Legislative Council Chairman Gutha Sukhender Reddy announced on Saturday that he’ll be donating his one-month salary to the National Defence Fund. He’s also urging fellow council members to follow suit and show their support for the country’s armed forces.
Speaking from his camp office in Nalgonda, Sukhender Reddy said India’s recent military actions were aimed solely at terrorist bases, carried out in line with the nation’s defence principles. In contrast, he accused Pakistan of deliberately targeting Indian civilians. “If Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) were under our control, incidents like this could be prevented,” he said. With tensions running high, Reddy called on every Indian to stand behind the troops and show solidarity in real, tangible ways.
In a show of similar support, Bhongir MP Chamala Kiran Kumar Reddy also pledged his full monthly salary to the fund. Speaking from Shaligouraram in Nakrekal constituency, he spoke the same line of unflinching support for the military and urged citizens to do whatever they could—big or small—to support the forces that safeguard them.
Both moves are part of a wider tide of political and public backing for the defence forces, particularly when the nation is witnessing cross-border tensions and the anguish of civilian casualties.
