Guru Tegh Bahadur’s 350th martyrdom anniversary observed with devotion in Hyderabad

Hyderabad: Sikh devotees in Hyderabad observed the 350th martyrdom anniversary of Guru Tegh Bahadur with solemn prayers and devotion on Sunday.

Thousands attended the Vishaal Kirtan Darbar at NTR Stadium, Indira Park. The Prabandhak Committee of Gurudwara Saheb Sitafalmandi, in coordination with other Sikh Gurudwaras in Telangana, organised the event.

Devotees offered prayers before the Guru Granth Sahib and listened to Shabad Keertans and Kathas. Speakers recalled Guru Tegh Bahadur’s ultimate sacrifice for religious freedom, justice, and human dignity.

Prominent Ragi Jathas, including Bhai Anantvir Singhji (USA), Bhai Gurdev Singhji (Australia), and Gyani Sher Singhji (Ambala), delivered powerful renditions. Their messages focused on values like courage, unity, and peace.

Community urged to follow Guru Tegh Bahadur’s example

Speakers described Guru Tegh Bahadur as “Hind Di Chadar” — India’s Shield — who died resisting forced conversions in 1675. They urged people to follow his example by standing for truth and respecting all faiths.

The event also honoured Bhai Matidas, Bhai Satidas, and Bhai Dayala for their courage and sacrifice.

After the ceremony, devotees shared a communal meal at the Guru-Ka-Langar. Seated in rows, they reinforced Sikh principles of equality, service, and fraternity.
