Gurgaon tennis player shot dead by father over social media activity, say friends

Hyderabad: A 25-year-old tennis player, Radhika Yadav, ranked 113th in the International Tennis Federation (ITF), was shot dead by her father at their residence in Sector 57, Gurgaon, Haryana.

Police said the accused fired five rounds, three of which struck Radhika, causing critical injuries. She was rushed to a hospital, where doctors declared her dead on arrival.

The incident has shocked the local community and the sports fraternity. Friends of the deceased alleged that her father was upset over her active presence on social media, which may have led to the confrontation and the fatal shooting.

Gurgaon police confirmed the father has been taken into custody and is being interrogated. Authorities said they are investigating all possible motives and will release full details after further inquiry.
