Hyderabad: The families of victims who perished in the recent fire at Gulzar Houz have demanded that the government order a judicial probe into the incident. At a press meet held at Somajiguda Press Club, Santosh Gupta, a relative of one of the victims, voiced the anguish of those who lost loved ones in the blaze.
Flanked by Srinivas from Goshamahal and advocate Atul Agarwal, Santosh Gupta alleged that sheer negligence by the fire department cost 17 lives. “For an hour, no fire engines arrived, and when they did, they were ill-equipped and understaffed,” he claimed.
Santosh Gupta said the attitude of government officials has only deepened the families’ pain. “Their indifference is shocking. Even after so many deaths, they speak carelessly,” he remarked.
He also condemned the delay in hospital care. “After rushing the injured to Osmania, three more lives were lost due to medical negligence,” he said, describing the fire as a tragedy that had shaken the entire country.
Santosh Gupta demanded that those responsible for Gulzar Houz fire tragedy be held accountable. “It is obvious that there was official negligence. We need a judicial probe to ensure justice,” he said, urging the government to act swiftly.
He warned that if the government failed to order a judicial probe, the victims’ families would approach the courts. “We want strong action so that such tragedies never happen again,” he stressed.
