Hyderabad: Gudimalkapur Police arrested three persons and seized counterfeit Indian currency during a raid at Avalon Apartments in Nanal Nagar, Hyderabad.
Acting on specific intelligence, officers searched for the location. During the operation, they found the suspects arguing over fake currency notes. After questioning the trio, police confirmed that the ₹500 denomination notes were counterfeit.
Police identified the accused as Babulal Jatkukna (23) and Dharmveer (22), both residents of Rajasthan. The third accused, Aweys Hersi Salad (30), lives in Tolichowki and is a native of Kenya. Meanwhile, other members involved in the racket managed to escape.
Counterfeit currency racket uncovered in Hyderabad
During interrogation, investigators learned that Babulal and Dharmveer travelled from Rajasthan to Hyderabad to deliver fake notes. According to police, Aweys Hersi Salad received the counterfeit currency in the city.
The team seized eight-and-a-half packets containing ten bundles of fake ₹500 notes. In addition, officers recovered four mobile phones and a Dio motorcycle bearing registration number TG 07 N 4481 from the accused.
Gudimalkapur Police registered the case as Crime No. 20/2026 under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. Further investigation is underway to trace the absconding accused and identify the source of the counterfeit currency.
