Landmine explosion kills three Greyhounds jawans near Telangana–Chhattisgarh border

Hyderabad: Three Greyhounds personnel were killed in a landmine explosion during a combing operation along the Telangana–Chhattisgarh border on Thursday morning. The incident occurred in the forested region between Veerabhadrapuram and the Tadapalli hills in Venkatapuram mandal of Mulugu district.

Police had launched the operation in the early hours based on intelligence reports indicating Maoist activity in the area. During the sweep, security forces came under fire from suspected Maoist militants, resulting in a gun battle between the two sides.

According to preliminary reports, Maoists had laid a landmine as part of a planned ambush. The explosion was triggered when Greyhounds’ jawans stepped on the booby-trapped area. The blast was powerful enough to kill three personnel on the spot due to critical injuries.

Authorities have not yet released an official statement, and the identities of the deceased have not been confirmed. The Mulugu district police and special forces are continuing their operations in the area to assess the situation and ensure the safety of other personnel.

More details are expected as the combing operation continues and senior officials reach the site.
