Goshamahal police rescue mentally challenged woman, reunite her with family

Hyderabad: Goshamahal police rescued a mentally challenged woman found wandering unclothed in the Joshiwadi area and reunited her with her family within hours.

Police received information about the woman at around 5:50 pm on May 20 and immediately responded to the location.

SI Laxmiah, along with women police constables Vimala and Divya and Home Guard Revana Swamy, reached the spot and began rescue efforts.

The police team arranged a saree from local residents and respectfully covered the woman to protect her dignity.

Officials conducted enquiries at the scene. However, the woman could not reveal her identity because of her mental condition.

Mentally challenged woman traced through hospital enquiry

Police safely shifted the woman and her belongings, including a gold chain, to the police station.

Further, officials circulated her photograph to trace her identity and family details.

During the investigation, Home Guard Revana Swamy gathered information at Osmania General Hospital and found that the woman had gone missing from the hospital premises.

Police later contacted her son and brought him to the station for verification.

After confirming her identity, officials reunited the woman safely with her family.
