Golkonda police arrest habitual offender in burglary case, recover ₹70,000

Hyderabad: Golkonda police apprehended a repeat offender wanted in connection with a house burglary at Naya Qila, recovering ₹70,000 in cash and other property. The accused was nabbed while moving suspiciously near Jamali Darwaza with housebreaking tools in his possession.

According to police, Ameer Khatoon of Naya Qila had filed a complaint on July 6 after discovering a theft from her house on the intervening night of June 29 and 30. Unidentified persons had broken the lock and stolen ₹70,000 in cash along with a small gold ear ring from an almirah.

Police arrested Mohammed Mujahid Qureshi, alias Javeed, 31, a tin shed worker from Kattelmandi, Abids. During interrogation, he admitted to the offence. Items seized included ₹70,000 cash, a mobile phone, an iron rod, gloves, and a black mask.

The accused is a habitual offender with six previous cases against him, including burglary cases at Golkonda, Moghalpura, and Saifabad police stations, and was also reportedly involved in a 2019 murder case in Maharashtra under Shivaji Nagar Police Station limits.

The arrest was made under the supervision of SHO Golconda Mr P Saidulu, Inspector M Rajendra Prasad, and the crime team. The Tolichowki division police appreciated the swift action by the Golkonda staff and announced a reward for their efforts.
