Hyderabad: The Telangana government has officially trifurcated the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) into three separate civic bodies, appointing MA&UD Special Chief Secretary Jayesh Ranjan as the Special Officer for all three newly constituted municipal corporations.
This administrative overhaul follows the expiry of the current GHMC council’s tenure. The restructuring divides the civic administration into the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation, the Cyberabad Municipal Corporation, and the Malkajgiri Municipal Corporation.
GHMC trifurcated: New commissioners appointed for each civic body
As part of the reorganisation, the State government has issued individual orders assigning Commissioners to each of the three corporations. RV Karnan will continue as Commissioner of the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation.
Meanwhile, G. Srijana previously Additional Commissioner of GHMC has been appointed Commissioner of the Cyberabad Municipal Corporation. Similarly, T. Vinay Krishna Reddy, also an Additional Commissioner of GHMC, will now serve as Commissioner of the Malkajgiri Municipal Corporation.
In line with the orders, Jayesh Ranjan formally assumed charge on Wednesday morning at the GHMC headquarters. The newly appointed Commissioners—Karnan, Srijana, and Vinay Krishna Reddy—have also taken charge of their respective corporations.
The trifurcation is aimed at strengthening decentralised administration and enhancing civic governance across the Hyderabad metropolitan area.
