Hyderabad: The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) is set to amend its procedures under Section 455A of the GHMC Act to streamline the building regularisation process. With a significant rise in applications from residents seeking to legalise unauthorised constructions, delays in obtaining clearance at the commissioner level have prompted the civic body to propose decentralisation.
The GHMC planning department has prepared a proposal to shift approval authority from the commissioner to zonal commissioners. The move is aimed at expediting processing times and reducing bureaucratic delays in the building regularisation process.
The amendment proposal will be taken up for discussion during Thursday’s Standing Committee meeting, chaired by Mayor Gadwal Vijayalakshmi. The committee is expected to approve the revision, paving the way for quicker processing of regularisation applications.
