Hyderabad: The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) will inaugurate a multilevel smart parking facility at KBR Park on Saturday. This will introduce the city’s first automated rotary parking system in a public area.
Hyderabad’s first smart rotary system to reduce congestion
Developed under a Public–Private Partnership (PPP) with Nava Nirman Associates, the facility aims to ease roadside congestion around KBR Park. It is one of the city’s busiest corridors—by using vertical rotary technology to maximise capacity while occupying minimal land.
GHMC officials said the project reflects a push for sustainable urban mobility. It will serve as a pilot model for replication in other high-density zones.
Key features: 72-car capacity, RFID access, and EV charging
The compact vertical system accommodates 72 cars, with additional space for two-wheelers. It includes RFID-enabled entry and exit, EV charging points, CCTV surveillance, load-balancing sensors, emergency response mechanisms, and safety locks. The facility will be operational daily from 5 AM to 11 PM.
GHMC stated that the new setup will help reclaim footpaths. It will reduce illegal parking, and ease traffic around the park and adjacent commercial areas. The civic body views this as part of its broader strategy to modernise Hyderabad’s infrastructure using smart and efficient solutions.
