HYDERABAD: The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) has intensified its crackdown on property tax defaulters by sealing properties with pending dues. In a recent action, GHMC officials sealed the Taj Banjara, a five-star hotel located on Road No. 1, Banjara Hills, Hyderabad.
According to officials, the hotel management had failed to clear property tax dues for the past two years, amounting to Rs 1.43 crore. Despite multiple notices and a final red notice, the hotel did not respond. As a result, GHMC took action on Friday morning and locked the hotel gates.
Officials stated that repeated reminders were sent, but the management did not comply, leaving them with no option but to seize the property. Further actions will depend on the payment of pending dues by the hotel authorities.
