Hyderabad: Flex banners put up across Hyderabad to mark the birthday of BRS leader and former Telangana minister K. T. Rama Rao were removed by municipal authorities, sparking strong reactions from party workers and supporters.
BRS cadres accused Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) of selectively targeting their party’s displays while ignoring similar banners for Congress and BJP leaders.
Describing the move as politically motivated, they demanded equal enforcement across parties or a complete ban on such displays.
Supporters argued that the removal reflected bias and alleged that BRS alone was being singled out under the guise of civic regulation.
GHMC officials, however, defended the action, stating that removing unauthorised banners from public spaces is routine and apolitical.
The incident has triggered sharp debate in political circles over selective enforcement and civic neutrality.
