GHMC launches Periodic Public Safety Inspection app for safer roads

Hyderabad: The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) has launched the Periodic Public Safety Inspection app built with ArcGIS Field Maps to improve public safety and road management across the city.

GHMC’s new app to strengthen road safety monitoring

The mobile app lets field engineers record and update road issues directly from the field. They can also take geo-tagged photos of potholes, open manholes, damaged catch pits, protruding bars or stones, open electrical boxes, and unsafe barricades at ongoing work sites.

Officials said the Periodic Public Safety Inspection app allows real-time tracking and faster inspections. It ensures quick action, transparent reporting, and better accountability in road maintenance.

GIS-enabled system for transparency and quick repairs

A GHMC press release said the app helps detect road damage early. It uses GIS data for accurate decision-making and includes geo-tagged photos with GPS coordinates for each issue. A central dashboard tracks every report from inspection to repair, creating a transparent and efficient system for road safety management.
