Hyderabad: The Anti-Corruption Bureau on Wednesday arrested GHMC Superintending Engineer Podduturi Chinna Reddy and computer operator Balasani Praveen Kumar in Hyderabad for demanding and accepting a ₹15 lakh bribe.
According to the ACB, the accused took the bribe in return for verifying completed works and forwarding bills worth ₹1.4 crore to the Zonal Commissioner for approval. The bribe was received through Praveen Kumar at the Kukatpally zone office of the Superintending GHMC Engineer.
The agency stated that both officers acted dishonestly to gain undue advantage. The tainted cash was recovered from Praveen Kumar’s possession at his instance.
ACB recovers cash, sends GHMC officials to judicial remand
Both individuals were presented before the Additional Special Judge for SPE & ACB Cases, Nampally, and were remanded to judicial custody. The case remains under investigation. ACB officials have withheld the identity of the complainant for security reasons.
