GHMC clears 4,185 MT waste in 10-day special sanitation drive

Hyderabad: The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) cleared over 4,185 metric tonnes of waste in just ten days during its special sanitation drive held from October 6 to 15.

Officials said the drive covered 2,041 colonies across 150 wards. Teams cleared 3,215 metric tonnes of municipal waste and 970 metric tonnes of construction and demolition waste.

Charminar Zone leads GHMC sanitation efforts

The Charminar Zone reported the highest clearance with 967 metric tonnes removed. Serilingampally and Khairatabad zones followed. The drive aimed to improve cleanliness before the festive season and reduce waste buildup in crowded localities.

GHMC Commissioner RV Karnan thanked residents for their cooperation. He urged citizens to support the “Clean and Green Hyderabad” campaign. He said GHMC would continue strict sanitation and waste management across all wards.
