GHMC bribe case: Town Planning Supervisor caught taking ₹20,000

Hyderabad: Anti-Corruption Bureau officials caught a GHMC Town Planning Supervisor allegedly accepting a ₹20,000 bribe for processing a building permission file on Tuesday. The accused officer was identified as Ch. Prabhavathi, Town Planning Supervisor at GHMC Santosh Nagar Circle-25 in Charminar Zone.

According to the ACB, the GHMC bribe case involved a demand for money from a complainant seeking action on a building permission file. Prabhavathi allegedly demanded and accepted ₹20,000 for processing the file. The payment was also allegedly linked to handing over the building permit order and work commencement letter.

GHMC bribe case handled by ACB City Range-1

ACB City Range-1 officials trapped the Town Planning Supervisor while she allegedly accepted the ₹20,000 payment. The anti-corruption agency said its officials recovered the money from her possession at her instance.

The ACB alleged that Prabhavathi had acted improperly and dishonestly while discharging her official duties. According to the agency, she sought an undue advantage from the complainant. Officials subsequently initiated proceedings against the accused Town Planning Supervisor.

The ACB said she was being produced before the Additional Special Judge for SPE and ACB cases at Nampally for judicial remand. Further investigation into the GHMC bribe case continued. Meanwhile, the ACB withheld the complainant’s identity for security reasons.
