Hyderabad: Gachibowli police on Thursday arrested a man for illegally cultivating ganja. This incident of ganja cultivation occurred near the Tata Institute of Fundamental Research Centre. It took place at NTR Nagar in Gopanpally village of Serilingampally mandal, Rangareddy district.
Acting on credible information received around 11 am, Gachibowli police teams led by Sub-Inspector M. Aksheetha conducted a raid at the site. They apprehended the suspect for his involvement in ganja cultivation on the spot. The accused was identified as Gogineni Satyanarayana (50), who worked as a watchman in the area.
Police said the accused admitted to cultivating the ganja plant due to financial difficulties. During the operation, officers from the Gachibowli police seized a ganja plant weighing about 400 grams. This highlighted the illegal ganja cultivation. They also seized a mobile phone allegedly used for selling the prohibited substance.
A case was registered under relevant sections of the law. Further investigation into the ganja cultivation is underway. Gachibowli police aim to determine whether others were involved in the illegal cultivation.
